Who is Lighthouse?
BACKGROUND
Lighthouse Business Innovation Centre (Lighthouse) is a lean and agile innovation consultancy founded in 2008. At Lighthouse we work with people who have ideas. These people come from all walks of life - entrepreneurs, inventors, researchers and scientists and leaders steering their organisations through periods of major change. But they all have the same vision: to turn their ideas into reality, build capability and expertise and grow sustainable businesses.
Since 2010, Lighthouse has hosted the annual, innovation event, Start-Up Camp Canberra. The objective of Start-Up Camp Canberra is to encourage entrepreneurial thinking through the development of business concept over the course of a single weekend.
After receiving requests for High School students to take part in Start-Up Camp, Lighthouse introduced Teen Start-Up in 2015.
WHY IS TEEN START-UP IMPORTANT?
The real benefit of Teen Start-Up teaches participants about the innovation process and the various tools that can be used. It doesn’t focus on any particular skill such as coding or prototype building, but rather encourages participants to present their ideas in a way that works for them. They really are learning while having fun.
What makes Teen Start-Up unique is that the concept sits at the intersection of the needs of both business and education.
